Infrastructure Nightmares
Introduction to this Topic by the Editor
I need to give you a little background on Perryville so this will be more understandable. This prison was built in the early
Explaining the Shower Picture
This is an accurate sketch of a real shower in “B” yard, Santa Cruz unit. Do you see the loose wires hanging in the lower door jamb? I was told they were “live” because this shower light is still on. I won’t test this theory! I’ve tried to portray all the standing water in front of those wires. All the shower units have standing water because the drains are all plugged.
Standing water = black mold we see everywhere
When inmates complained about the condition of this shower, they just took off the door and left it open. In the shower next to this one (not pictured) is the same filth.
The regulators (hot and cold) will not engage so moving the handle from Hot to Cold does nothing. The temperature the DOC sets is what you get. In the winter the water is cold and in the summer, it’s hot. The water pressure would increase dramatically if they would soak the shower heads in Lime-aWay to remove 50 years of accumulated minerals.
Nightmare on Naphcare street
We’ve had terrible stories of how bad the Naphcare rollout has been, we don’t know where to start. Reportedly, the app on the inmates’ tablets does not work well. An officer said the Naphcare computer does not talk to the DOC computer, which causes major headaches for Off-Site Doctor appointments. Every appointment has to be done by phone, which strains the understaffing even more. Appointments are allegedly getting “lost” in the system. (what system?).
ACLU sources have confided they are ready to warn Judge Silver about the ongoing violations and ask for receivership to start NOW.
Vermin infests Perryville!
Our sources on Lumley, Cruz, and Carlos report ROACHES and RODENTS permeating the living quarters. Inmates on Cruz and Lumley are mostly infested with roaches, while San Carlos has problems with mice and rats. At C bay on Carlos, 3 mice were reportedly caught in sticky traps in one day. A bay has had a similar infestation.
The women’s food supply is being eaten through by hungry little mouths. In general, the inmates say the staff are ho-hum about the whole thing and refuse to put more traps out because “it costs money”.
Our readers can Google all the diseases rodents carry so you can see for yourself how serious it is. What galls us, even more, is the women themselves are called on to carry the dead rodents out to the trash. One eyewitness account of CO PEARCH completely ignoring the dead mouse in the laundry room (11-6-22 am shift), she wouldn’t even call it in. An inmate had to deal with it.
Large rats are breeding under the buildings, while mice seem to have nests inside the buildings. Stay tuned.
Dateline: Santa Cruz….guess who’s missing??
The inmates alleged, most hated Sargent, Seymour (dick)! No one has seen the infamous misogynistic, knuckle dragger in weeks!
We have had mail regarding this phenomenon. Where did he go?
The biggest joke about him is that he camped out in the DOC parking lot. The guy never left work. Sometimes he would stay from 7am to midnight.
Best Rumor: Sgt. Seymour was seen in charge of a gulag in Russia’s Siberia!
