Infrastructure Nightmares
Introduction to this Topic by the Editor
I need to give you a little background on Perryville so this will be more understandable. This prison was built in the early
Explaining the Shower Picture
This is an accurate sketch of a real shower in “B” yard, Santa Cruz unit. Do you see the loose wires hanging in the lower door jamb? I was told they were “live” because this shower light is still on. I won’t test this theory! I’ve tried to portray all the standing water in front of those wires. All the shower units have standing water because the drains are all plugged.
Standing water = black mold we see everywhere
When inmates complained about the condition of this shower, they just took off the door and left it open. In the shower next to this one (not pictured) is the same filth.
The regulators (hot and cold) will not engage so moving the handle from Hot to Cold does nothing. The temperature the DOC sets is what you get. In the winter the water is cold and in the summer, it’s hot. The water pressure would increase dramatically if they would soak the shower heads in Lime-aWay to remove 50 years of accumulated minerals.
Another Beleaguered Guard up Past her Bedtime
What motivates these female guards to suit up every day for low pay and little benefits?
The low staff problem means many guards have to work double shifts. A graveyard shift officer is again pulling the day shift for the glory of the DOC.
She frankly looks like a walking zombie with dark circles around her eyes.
Why doesn’t the DOC protect lives by calling in the National Guard? They are authorized to do so. The potential of lives saved would be worth the embarrassment to Shinnsplints.
1500 Women at Night with ONE guard
Taxpayers check this out. For your $1.5 Billion DOC budget, you only get one guard on duty from 10 pm to 6 am to watch over your daughters.
I have to get up during the night to use the restroom, and that’s when I noticed there was no guard anywhere in the Bay. I thought it was an anomaly, but throughout the week the same thing happened.
I started to confide in trusted officers about this, and they told me that they are so understaffed that one guard walks all 4 Bays of 1500 women.
Just yesterday a gal had a stroke, there were 2 seizures, and a pregnant woman went to the hospital….and that was one Bay! Can you imagine the liability for this?
Of course, when the DOC loses a lawsuit they just don’t pay it, so of course, they DON’T CARE!
CO Soto Likes to Watch Them Squirm
CO II Soto is working “the old folks home and maternity ward” at San Carlos (C Bay). She looks like she’s getting intense enjoyment from making the women wait a whole hour, or more, to go to the bathroom.
We have checked other Bays on the same day and time and discovered count had cleared 20 to 30 minutes earlier than Soto announced it clear.
Her gleeful expression makes you wonder what kind of bully she is to make the elderly and pregnant wait that long to relieve themselves. Only Soto and Markel are reported to do this.
