With a budget of 1.1 Billion dollars, why con’t the D.O.C. buy enough shower curtains in a female prison? The window on the shower door is eye level for every male guard doing his rounds. Some showers have curtains that are more holes than plastic – they leave nothing to the imagination. When girls put paper on the window of the shower so the guards can’t see in, the men take the paper down and tell us it’s a “security risk.”
Most of us have had the embarrassment of a male guard entering our cell without knocking (they are supposed to knock first) as we sit on the toilet.
Exploitation of women? Are we side shows? Are we nothing but an object of male amusement?
Where is the #metoo movement when we need it?
