Explaining the Shower Picture
This is an accurate sketch of a real shower in “B” yard, Santa Cruz unit. Do you see the loose wires hanging in the lower door jamb? I was told they were “live” because this shower light is still on. I won’t test this theory! I’ve tried to portray all the standing water in front of those wires. All the shower units have standing water because the drains are all plugged.
Standing water = black mold we see everywhere
When inmates complained about the condition of this shower, they just took off the door and left it open. In the shower next to this one (not pictured) is the same filth.
The regulators (hot and cold) will not engage so moving the handle from Hot to Cold does nothing. The temperature the DOC sets is what you get. In the winter the water is cold and in the summer, it’s hot. The water pressure would increase dramatically if they would soak the shower heads in Lime-aWay to remove 50 years of accumulated minerals.

Today Central Office issued an edict to take away ALL ACRYLIC PAINTS! Inmates can no longer express themselves through art.
A swarm of guards stormed the women’s’ home to take away every bottle of paint they ever purchased. TONS of money in a bag and gone! What next? Burning books?!
For a year these women have been demoralized by the Covid pandemic, denied visits and hugs from their families, and the DOC goes out of its way to demoralize them further???!! We are forming advocates to address this travesty.
UPDATE: We’ve learned a possible reason for the sudden ban on acrylic paints. Two inmates recently escaped from the Florence facility (they’ve been recaptured) by altering the lettering on their DOC clothing with acrylic paint. Seriously?

The ladies in Perryville have the added financial burden of furnishing basic supplies to the new people. This is an example of letters we are getting a lot of.
My new roommate came to my cell with virtually NOTHING. All she had was one tattered blanket, a comb with 4 teeth left, a sliver of soap, and the used clothing on her back. I gave her shampoo, soap, toothbrush and paste, comb, and lent her my other towel. There was nothing I could do about sheets, a pillow, or underwear. She slept on one scratchy blanket for two weeks before she got one sheet and one towel from State Issue.

For our readers new to this website, we alerted the media to this problem about two years ago. With the pressure they exerted on the DOC, women finally got decent supplies coming into prison. As usual, the DOC has gone back to their cheap ways, and are finding other places to spend their 1.1billion dollars……on themselves.
Lockdown Lumley
We were able to obtain the lockdown times for those poor unfortunate mediums (medium custody inmates) on Lumley. These mediums are treated worse than anyone!
These are all the times that the main yard is closed. No movement to store, education, property, medical, or recreation. 6:30-7:00am, 8:30-9:00, 10:00-10:30, noon rec starts, 1:30pm rec ends., 2:00 rec starts, 3:00 education ends, 3:30 all rec ends. After 5 pm no main yard due to feeding, pill call, and B-yard movement. On A yard they are locked down EXTRA from 8:00 am to 8:30 am for SMI pill call.
Do our readers understand why the words from staff, *We’ll transfer you to Lumley* strikes terror in every woman on Perryville?
