Explaining the Shower Picture
This is an accurate sketch of a real shower in “B” yard, Santa Cruz unit. Do you see the loose wires hanging in the lower door jamb? I was told they were “live” because this shower light is still on. I won’t test this theory! I’ve tried to portray all the standing water in front of those wires. All the shower units have standing water because the drains are all plugged.
Standing water = black mold we see everywhere
When inmates complained about the condition of this shower, they just took off the door and left it open. In the shower next to this one (not pictured) is the same filth.
The regulators (hot and cold) will not engage so moving the handle from Hot to Cold does nothing. The temperature the DOC sets is what you get. In the winter the water is cold and in the summer, it’s hot. The water pressure would increase dramatically if they would soak the shower heads in Lime-aWay to remove 50 years of accumulated minerals.
RATS at Perryville Complex Kitchen!!
Several Complex (where all inmate food is prepared) kitchen workers recently posted this news:
” During my shift yesterday, (9/25/20) we were removing pallets of bread and discovered 3 cases had been eaten by rats. As we entered the storage area, I saw two Trinity workers and five inmates screaming and running. Then about three rats came out on their heels. They were BIG suckers! They are leaving a lot of rat poop all over the place.
Last week an inmate worker “escaped” from the Complex, so they have shut all the doors and gates, and have not assigned porters to clean up the garbage. There used to be inmate porters cleaning and removing garbage all day long, now nothing is happening. The officers take the dumpsters out once every 24 hours. It’s a mess out there.
The rats run the place! Our families are calling the Dept of Public Health!”
“Critical Update my foot!”

“Once again the DOC and this time, JPay, screwed up a “critical update” via the kiosks. We have often wondered why they put computers out in the 116-degree heat, and now we think we know the answer. Because they are not going to last long.
Allegedly, we are getting new tablets (made in China) at the end of Oct. These new tablets will be independent of kiosks and run from Wi-Fi only, and be capable of several things. The best thing is being able to order off Keefe store directly without any paper transaction. Banking will be online.
But back to the update that took place statewide yesterday….JPay had no idea it was going to louse up so bad. For the people that downloaded movies and games, their money was taken, but they received no product. Then after-the-fact, an announcement was made NOT to download anything. Jpay is telling the inmates that they will get their games/movies maybe next week.”
No Good Deed Goes Unpunished
What is it with Sgt. Spears and elderly ladies?
As we reported recently, this guy gives tickets (or more accurately, advises tickets, he’s too lazy to write them) for jogging to the library, asking questions about the Coronavirus, etc.
Now, he hassled a 72-year-old woman for CLEANING on her Rec time?? Isn’t this the epitome of good citizenship?! The woman in question uses her quarantine 45min rec time to clean pigeon poop off the cement, water the plants, and pick up a ton of cigarette butts outside her building.
She deserves our thanks, not scorn from some bully.
